Most vacations come with a price tag of some level. A Walt Disney World vacation can be enjoyed even if you’re on a budget. Throughout the year various deal and discounts are offered such as Free Dining through the Disney Dining Plan and discounted room rates for specific dates. You can also save money on your Disney vacation by planning to visit during a value season, when the prices for resort packages are cheaper. Another option is to book at one of the five Value Resorts.
What is a Value Resort?
A Walt Disney World Value Resort is an on-site resort that offers budget-friendly accommodations but with not the same level of amenities found at the Moderate or Deluxe Resorts. For example, the Value Resort guest rooms offer fewer square footage of space and these rooms don’t have a refrigerator or coffee maker. The Disney Value Resorts include:
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
All-Star Sports and All-Star Music are the oldest among the Value Resorts, both opened in 1994. The Art of Animation is the newest. It opened its doors to guests in May 2012.
Benefits of a Value Resort
For many, the greatest benefit to staying at a Value Resort is the ability to spend less on room rates to help keep the overall vacation costs manageable. The standard room rate per night at All-Star Music starts around $92, while a standard room at a Moderate Resort like Caribbean Beach starts at $170. Deluxe Resorts are higher with room rates that can begin at $284 per night for the Animal Kingdom Lodge to more than $500 per night at the Grand Floridian.
Kid-friendly, Fun Themes
Disney’s Value Resorts are bright, magical spaces with themes designed to delight kids (and adults) of all ages. From the giant Dalmatian puppies at All-Star Movies to the Grand Slam pool shaped like a baseball diamond at All-Star Sports, these resorts are ideal for families and a great choice for a first-time Disney vacation.
While they may not have amenities like a spa or elegant dining options, they do have sites that can’t be seen anywhere else on property. The Art of Animation resort features the largest resort pool at Walt Disney World. It’s theme is the Disney•Pixar movie Finding Nemo and it even includes underwater speakers and a special interactive water play area for the tiniest of guests.
Is Disney Transportation Available at the Value Resorts?
Yes! Disney transportation to parks, Downtown Disney and the water parks is available and easy to access at each of the Value Resorts. The All-Star resorts are located in the Animal Kingdom Resort area, while Pop Century and the Art of Animation are in the Wide World of Sports Resort area.
