Starting January 31, 2018 Universal Orlando is adding a new night-time story to its ever-popular Harry Potter experience that will run throughout the year on select dates. Named as “The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle“, the new show will transform the entire Hogwarts castle into a dazzling delight, featuring world class projection mapping with special effects, lighting and original scores from the Harry Potter films. For the first time Universal guests will be able to watch the four houses of Hogwarts (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin) come to life in such amazing display of lights right on the exteriors of the massive castle.
The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle show is Universal’s second projection mapping initiative at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction. Earlier it’s “The Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle” show that had stunned holiday guests visiting the centerpiece attraction in the Hogsmeade area, in the Islands of Adventure section of the Resort. The new show will run on select nights beginning January 31 to February 5, 2018. And then again from February 7 to February 12, 2018, and continue through the year with more dates yet to be announced.
Moreover, guests visiting the attraction on select dates can enjoy the show anytime as it runs continuously throughout the evening. The Resort also offers a preview of the show prior to its official opening on January 31, 2018. During “A Celebration of Harry Potter” on January 27 and 28, 2018, guests at the Park will enjoy an exclusive glimpse of the new show. Also those with the special Harry Potter vacation package, it’s a great opportunity to catch the excitement before it actually opens for the regular park visitors. Package holders can be a part of the exclusive preview on January 26, 2018.
For Universal fans living on the West Coast the night-time Hogwarts show may not be a new one. The experience is already available at Universal Studios Hollywood since June 2017. It’s about a five minute long show, featuring a series of awe-inspiring images that puts you in the middle of a Potter adventure that you never want to miss. You will see each of the Hogwarts four houses come to life with their own unique stories.
Given the popularity of The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle show in the West Coast, the response is expected to go even further at the new Orlando version of the show. Truly, it’s a great opportunity to watch the massive castle transforms into a living centerpiece of Potter adventures. Never ever the four houses of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is celebrated in such amazing display of lights and sounds.

If speculations and references are to be believed then we have a much bigger Universal Orlando in near future. There are some major new additions and attractions coming to Universal Orlando Resort. First it’s the most speculated idea of a fourth theme park and now a new Pokémon park. With reference to anonymous Universal sources and a Theme Park University blogger, WFTV revealed that the new Pokémon Park is indeed coming to the Resort. Thanks to the never-ending arms race between Universal and Disney World parks. Coz it’s the constant urge for getting bigger and better that triggers the creation of newer and more immersive family fun experiences.
The Pokémon Park is coming to Universal Orlando soon. Pokémon is seen as a perfect opportunity for Universal to strengthen its ability to attract even bigger crowd now. Pokémon Franchise (that includes the video game, TV show and its different media versions) has been ruling the hearts of millions for generations. The popular video game franchise is said to be located at the Universal’s Kid-Zone section. It will share the same neighborhood with Woody Woodpecker and Barney. Also according to sources, the Kid-Zone area is originally slated to be home to a Mario Kart and a Donkey Kong roller coaster. But now the respective attractions will have the fourth Universal Orlando Park as their new home.
Along with a fourth theme park and Pokémon there will be a Nintendo themed park as well. Nintendo is going to be one of the many themed lands to be built at the new 400 acre Universal property (the so-called fourth theme park). Nintendo holds the trademark for Pokémon. And the inclusion of a new Pokémon theme park in an existing Universal Studios theme park is cited as the Resort’s plan to distribute Nintendo out to all the Universal properties, similar to the Harry Potter world.
At present Universal is involved in a lawsuit with the former owner of the property. Universal had acquired the hundreds of acres property in 2015. However, the former owner argues that he still holds rights to enforce private deed restrictions, and that includes a ban of theme parks. The lawsuit is expected to take a year to resolve.
For Universal fans it’s mostly a waiting game for now. Of course we have the Fast and Furious – Supercharged ride is opening this spring itself. Followed by the Aventura Hotel, opening in August this year. Moreover, there is a new Harry Potter roller coaster ride opening in 2019 at Islands of Adventure. Pokémon is expected to open by 2020. The Super Nintendo World is set to open first in Japan and Hollywood, followed by Orlando in 2023.
